100 Ways to Love is a collection of artworks created between March 11 - July 1, 2021, investigating the concept of love expressed through an everyday object: an apple. During this time Katie Calfee and Philip Padilla practiced a ritual of starting and finishing one piece of apple-inspired artwork each day. Because the initial apple began from a seed of selfless support, the apple itself became a symbol of love, desire to share, and conduit for collaboration. All forms of media were welcome and each apple is a unique display of its creator’s experiences and memories. The volume of modest works reflects the consistent investment that helps an authentic romantic relationship grow. With mindful application of observation and intention, love can look like an apple.
